“Power Book II: Ghosts” has been known to throw viewers a curveball (or many) at times, and season three, which premiered March 17, is no exception. So far, new characters have been introduced, while one appears to have reappeared after being killed off. But the viewers are saddened to see that a familiar face is not back for the new season.
Season two of the hit Starz drama introduces Theo Rollins, brother of defense attorney Davis McLean (Method Man), who is in prison for murdering the crooked attorney. That season, Theo was played by Redman, rap icon and well-known Method Man collaborator.
Method Man – who famously starred alongside Redmayne in 2001’s “How High” and collaborated with him on “Blackout”. The album series – credited “Power” creator and former showrunner Courtney Kemp for the nostalgic idea, reflecting on her reunion with Redmayne in “Power Book II: Ghost” in a recent interview with Vibe Magazine. “Before she even finished the sentence, I was more or less like, ‘Shut up. I get it. Let’s get her in,'” he told the publication. “It’s always dope to work with someone you’ve worked with for years, but not someone you’ve always worked with, but someone you look up to on stage and things like that. Trust us. So anytime you have Redman and Method Man on screen together, not only are you going to get chemistry, you’re going to get rapport as well as professionalism.”
Although Redmayne’s character returned in season three, fans were quick to point out that the rapper himself did not reprise the role, as he appears to have been replaced with a new face in episode three. . So why didn’t Redmayne return for “Power Book II: Ghost” season three? Here’s what we know so far.
Why did Redmayne leave “Power Book II: Ghost”?
Neither “Power Book II: Ghost” showrunner Brett Mahoney, executive producer 50 Cent, nor Redmayne himself have released a statement addressing the rapper’s role in season three. Representatives for Starz could not be reached for comment. While the reason behind Redmayne’s absence remains unclear, viewers are still demanding clarification from the series.
“Come on #power y’all really thought y’all could change the Redman character and we as black viewers wouldn’t care,” wrote a Twitter userWhereas other tweeted“😒😒🙁 Yeah idk if I want to see more of it. SMH. I was really looking forward to Redmayne playing Theo. SMH.”
Who Plays Theo Rollins In “Power Book II: Ghost” Season 3?
For those who may be wondering, actor Jordan Mahomes reprized Redmayne’s role as Theo in the third episode of season three. He appears in a scene with Shane Johnson’s Cooper Saxe, who is investigating Theo’s case on behalf of his colleague Davis, as the two discuss evidence that suggests he is locked up because he killed his brother. Covered up wrongdoings.
According to Davis, his brother covered for him because he could have faced prison when he was 21 for killing a cop’s brother. Theo made a plea deal so that Davis could pursue his studies at Columbia Law, although the lawyer did not know that this would result in his brother, who suffered from hepatitis, being in prison for so long.
Mahomes may be a familiar face to some as he has previously starred in TV shows such as “Ray Donovan,” “The Get Down,” “The Punisher,” and “For Life.” It remains to be seen whether or not he will appear as Theo in a future episode of “Power Book II: Ghost”.
