Victor Vembanayama and the San Antonio Spurs are set to begin a fruitful partnership after the five-time NBA champion selected him as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

The Frenchman is expected to mark an era with Spurs.

Spurs finally got possession of Wembanyama on Thursday, and they couldn’t be happier.

Upon his arrival in the city, the youngster was asked about his earliest memories of the team, with Vembanayama admitting that Spurs are ‘the most important franchise for French players’.

The Spurs became a well-known franchise around the world thanks to players such as Tony Parker and Boris Diaw.

They used to have a lot of international players on their roster, reaching new fans with their style of play.

Now, they are set to do the same by making Vembanyama their cornerstone.

The hype around him is extreme, but he has said that he is not feeling any pressure about it.

The next step for him is to play for the team in the upcoming Las Vegas Summer League.

Vembanayama has won several individual awards in LNB Pro A, including MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Scoring Championship and Best Shot-Blocker title while being named to the LNB Top Five Players Team.

In 32 games played, he averaged 21.5 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.4 assists in 32.1 minutes.

Wembanayama looks set to make a major impact on the league, and the Spurs could be a competitive team for many years to come.
