The second part of the “Vanderpump Rules” Season 10 reunion brought even more drama as the intense confrontation between Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix and their fellow saviors continued. While none nearly came to blows like the May 24 episode, things still heated up as more details about Sandoval’s months-long relationship with fellow cast member Raquel Lewis were revealed.
In early March, Maddix learned of Sandoval and Lewis’ relationship. The “Vanderpump Rules” cameras began rolling again at that point to capture more footage, and the entire cast came together to film the reunion on March 23, during which Maddix and Sandoval debriefed the situation.
Just minutes into the first episode, Sandoval was booed by almost everyone on the reunion stage when he broke down after being questioned by host Andy Cohen. “You don’t belong at the Academy Awards,” James Kennedy yelled at Sandoval, while Maddix said, “The sad sack act is f*cking bull*t.”
Things quickly escalated between Kennedy and Sandoval as the two debated the seriousness of their friendship in the wake of the latter’s affair with Kennedy’s ex-fiancée Lewis. As threats were thrown around, the two rose from their seats and had to be physically separated. Cohen spoke specifically to Kennedy, imploring him to “stay in the chair”. Kennedy quickly excused himself for a bathroom break, but upon his exit hurled insults at Sandoval—which included, “You mustache worm.”
During Wednesday’s episode and the previous installment on May 24, cast member Shayna Shay was present, while Lewis was not due to a temporary restraining order he obtained against Shay in early March. Lewis accused close friend Shay of punching him when he learned of the affair. This prevented Shay and Lewis from filming together during the reunion, but on March 29, Lewis and his attorney did not appear in court for a hearing regarding the order, and it was dismissed. During a one-on-one chat with Cohen that aired on May 31, Lewis stated that he had an attorney file for dismissal and admitted, “I am absolutely sorry for filing the restraining order.”
Parts one and two of the reunion mainly featured Lewis listening from a trailer outside the studio as his classmates filmed. Shay left the stage at the end of the second episode, and Lewis was brought in – although his conversation with the rest of the crew has not yet aired.
Shay and Lewis’ differing versions of those events were a large part of the focus during the May 31 episode. Shay said she was not able to speak about the incident until after her court date (though she did show her fingernails to support the argument that her long manicure may have prevented her from making a fist). However, this did not stop other artists from sharing their opinion.
Cohen asked Sandoval directly what he thought had happened between Shay and Lewis, and after a long pause, Sandoval lamented that he felt “like I’m between a rock and a hard place. I Don’t want to spoil my relationship with Shayna but I want to tell the truth.” Sandoval then insisted that he heard Shay tell Maddix on the phone after the prior encounter with Lewis, “I just punched that b*tch in the face,” adding that he was “one hundred percent”. [positive]I’ll take a polygraph.”
“I talked to Scheana on the phone and not once did she say ‘I punched Raquel,'” Lala Kent said in support of Shay. An emotional Shay eventually stated that she would never be friends with Lewis again, and detailed the affair’s effect on her own life. Shay also confirmed that she had shared her doubts about the relationship between Sandoval and Lewis with Maddix, who allayed her concerns at the time.
In previous episodes, Sandoval and friend Tom Schwartz offered different timelines for what happened to Sandoval and Lewis’s affair. Schwartz claimed that Sandoval told him that he had a one-night stand with Lewis in early August, while in a separate interview with Cohen that aired on May 24, Sandoval claimed that his business partner had been married since January of this year. Didn’t know about the relationship.
Bravo initially released the trailer for the reunion on May 11, and in it, Sandoval and Lewis try to defend their actions against an onslaught from Maddix and the rest of the cast. “I can’t think of two bad guys, I can’t,” Maddix said, wiping away tears. These moments will be included in part three of the reunion. Sandoval and Lewis also mentioned in the trailer how everyone is “trying” to paint them as “pathological liars” — which was featured in part two of the reunion.
While Sandoval seemed to break down under the stress of his friends’ questioning, Lewis appeared calm during the moments he filmed. She also explained her mindset during the affair while speaking alone with Cohen at a May 31 sit-down. Lewis said that she and Sandoval felt that Maddix was ignoring signs of their affair, adding that her former friend, “never pressed about it, she never told me about it … Just believed it at face value.” When Cohen told Lewis that it sounded like she was blaming Maddix for her actions, Lewis agreed: “I mean at the time I think it was my mindset. I’m very ashamed of it.” Am.” Lewis insisted that she and Sandoval had planned to come clean about the affair with Maddix before it was discovered, but “needed to get our story straight” on the timeline they planned to share.
Since filming ended, Maddix has attended May’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner and has been romantically linked to trainer Danny Vai. Both Sandoval and Lewis have not defined their current relationship with each other.
