Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown will enter the final year of his contract in 2023/24.

That means they would have to agree on an extension soon before they can talk in the off-season, but it can’t happen soon enough.

Some reports say that Brown does not feel valued in Boston and would not mind switching sides if given the opportunity.

That means the Celtics will need to entertain the idea of giving him their best suitor for at least the next season before he leaves for free.

Notably, ESPN Houston recently broke the news that the Houston Rockets would be more than interested in his services, should he become available.

Brown is one of the league’s rising stars, a leader on and off the court, and one of the best young two-way players in the world right now.

The Rockets are craving some leadership right now.

Stephen Silas has lost the respect of his players, and the team’s lack of development, fundamentals or ability to play team basketball has been a major concern for fans.

Then again, they have enough youth and attractive assets to at least try and pull off a trade for the Browns, including players and a first-round pick.

Of course, Brown hasn’t openly admitted that he wants to leave, and he’s very optimistic about his pairing with Jayson Tatum.

But we’ve seen this type of story happen too many times in the league, so don’t be surprised if he asks if the Celtics fall short of their goal again this season.
