It took months, but Lamar Jackson has officially and finally signed his contract extension with the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens played the long game and let the market play itself out, even though Jackson wasn’t exactly thrilled with that approach.
The Louisville product openly claimed he formally requested a trade in early March, yet GM Eric DeCosta never entertained the idea of his franchise moving forward without its quarterback.

The Ravens always planned to bring Jackson back.
They proved it by making a huge financial investment and taking a chance on Odell Beckham Jr., brushing aside their other contenders to make sure their franchise QB had a major weapon in the passing game. .
Still, they certainly appeared as though they were willing to force Jackson to play under a non-exclusive franchise tag.
They could match every offer they get from another team or receive draft compensation if they decide to leave, but the shocking lack of league-wide interest in Jackson gave them all leverage in negotiations.
Nevertheless, Jackson never relented and eventually got the deal he was looking for.
Jackson has failed to finish any of the past few seasons with injuries and his style of play not being healthy.
Hopefully, he will come back with full force and live up to that new big deal in 2023.
