Stanley Tucci has no problem with straight actors playing gay characters – as long as it’s done correctly.
As a straight man, Stanley has portrayed gay characters in films on several occasions, including his role in the devil Wears Prada,
Looking back, Stanley says that her roles have also earned her appreciation from members of the LGBTQ community.
He added, “I’m always very happy when gay men come up to me and talk to me about themselves. the devil Wears Prada or they talk supernovaAnd they say, ‘That was beautiful,’ you know, ‘You did it the right way.'”
Unfortunately, Stanley says it’s often “not done the right way”, seemingly when actors lean into caricatures and stereotypes.
He added, “I truly believe an actor’s an actor’s an actor.” “You get to play different people. That’s just who you are. That’s the whole point of it.”
“Can any straight man do what I did Philadelphia Now? No, and that’s right,” said Tom. “We’ve gone beyond that now.” I don’t think people will accept the inauthenticity of a straight man playing a gay role.”
