Shonda Rhimes is to be honored with a BAFTA special award at a tribute ceremony in New York next month.
CEO of Shondaland, whose credits include Grey’s Anatomy, Bridgerton And Scandal, He will receive the award which is given to people who have made “significant, inspiring and outstanding contributions to film, sports and TV.” At the New York event on May 3, she will attend a fireside chat and cocktail reception, which will be the first BAFTA US in-person awards presentation since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Shonda’s pioneering work has captured our hearts and inspired audiences around the world,” said Catherine Busby, BAFTA North America Board Chair. “We are honored to present the BAFTA Mask to such a respected and admired artist.
BAFTA President Krishnendu Majumdar said that Rhimes “has built the foundation and platform to launch a global career.”
in mega-hit Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice And Scandal, Rhimes is the first woman to achieve the 100-episode milestone with three different shows.
She launched Shondaland in 2017 and struck an unprecedented exclusive deal with Netflix, which caused royal mayhem bridgerton and like Anna’s invention Anna Delvey has since signed several similar deals with top talents.
