Royals attack enough against top guardians

Allen recovers to retire in next 12 Guardians in order until Bobby Witts Jr. hit a single to start the sixth inning. Pérez then fired an 87 mph cutter and hit his 17th homer of the season, a 420-blast over the left-center fence to take a 4–0 lead.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland offense had scrambled against Yarbrough.

In the bottom of the sixth, Amed Rosario hit a leadoff double and scored on Josh Bell’s two-out single, making the margin 4–1.

Garcia restored Royal Family‘ Line-drive, opposite-field homer, his fourth long ball of the season, drilled over the short porch in right to provide a four-run cushion in the top of the seventh.

Guardians rebounded in the bottom of the inning against reliever Jose Cuas, who had not given up a run in his previous eight innings. David Fry walked, Will Brennan doubled, and Miles Straw singled to center to score both runners, pulling Cleveland to within 5–3.

Carlos Hernandez pitched a scoreless eighth. Royal FamilyBut Guardians Scott brought in the winning run in the ninth against Barlow. Barlow recorded his 12th save by bringing out Steven Cowan with two runners on first.

Yarbrough (3-5) scattered six hits over six innings, allowed only one run and took no walks while striking out one.

Allen (4-3) gave up seven hits and struck out five in his seven innings with no walks, but was charged with five runs (four earned).

Witt and Isbell each had two hits. Royal Family, Emde Rosario had three of Cleveland’s 10 hits, while Brennan and Straw each had two.
