On Wednesday afternoon (July 20) the Panola County Sheriff’s Office said they found the body of a 40-year-old man. According to the department’s report, the victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. After a brief investigation, the 21-year-old “Painting Pictures” artist was immediately found suspicious.

victim’s grandmother mary ann strong, were reportedly present during the shooting. He said that his grandson used to be Pride’s barber.

Strong told the outlet that Pride came to her home on Wednesday to visit her grandson. She says she saw Pride chasing Wheatley when the two fled the house.

According to Strong, the rapper allegedly shot Wheatley several times as she ran.

“And the young man was shooting at him, and that eventually shot him down,” Strong told WREG. “He fell here, and after he fell he shot about three times, and he came over to me, and he pointed the gun at me and asked if I was going to tell,” Strong said. “He came back here and took the last shot in his head.”

Additionally, Strong reported that his grandson was “a really soft-hearted person”.

“He was a really soft hearted person, he did whatever he could to help anybody. He was a really nice person.”

He said that Pride fled in a red pickup truck. That vehicle was eventually found abandoned in Pope, Mississippi, according to WREG.

The alleged motive behind the firing has not been publicly revealed.

Meanwhile, Superstar Pride’s song “Painting Pictures”, which samples Faith Evans’ “Soon As I Get Home” made the Billboard Hot 100 list earlier this year.

According to TMZ, the track went viral on TikTok before reaching the Billboard Top 25 for Rap Songs.
