The stars always seem to align for Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, First a bit of a coincidence, and then, as Chopra said on May 11, “The jennifer hudson show,” the pursuit that Jonas was just looking for when she was crowned Miss World in 2000.
Chopra said, “My mother-in-law was like, ‘I remember seeing you when you lived.’ “I was in London. It’s 2000. I think they were in Texas. I was like, ‘No way.’ And she was like, ‘I remember it so clearly because it was November. Nick was in a Broadway show at age 7; his brother was in a Broadway show at 8 or 9.’
According to Chopra, the family became involved in Miss World because Kevin Jonas Sr. — her now father-in-law — liked to watch the pageant, and they had the competition when the middle Jonas brother unexpectedly sat down with them and watched Chopra win. “That was 22 years ago or something. He was 7. I was 17. And he was sitting there, and he was watching. It was so weird.”
“He was 7. I was 17. And he was sitting there, and he was watching.”
Chopra won the contest after turning just 18, with no way of knowing that her future husband would be watching that very moment on TV. Does she consider it destiny? “Maybe,” Chopra said. “I think people clash because you’re supposed to create — on this short, short life that you have — memories that you’ll carry forward … family,” she told Hudson. “I think Nick and I have had these weird enchanted little moments through our lives, and it feels great to have you in person now.”
Call it fate, but fast forward to today, and the two are already approaching their fifth year of marriage. They also have a 1 year old daughter Malti.
