nba The regular season is nearing its end, which means award talk is heating up. You’ll mainly hear about the MVP race, but there are a few other awards given out each year that matter. Coach of the Year is one of them, and there’s no one more deserving in 2023 sacramento kings Head Coach, Mike Brown.
Single-Elimination Would Change NBA Playoff History
Sacramento Has not completed an NBA campaign above 20.50005-06. It was the last time Kings fans saw an NBA game in their city after the season. Brown came in and changed the culture around these Kings, and he did it with a relatively young team and no big superstars. they’ve got some really good young talent and some Young stars, but once in Cleveland coaching LeBron James, the Browns had nothing.
James’ coaches in the NBA never get the credit they probably deserve, especially if they had the pleasure of riding with LeBron during his prime. Brown qualifies for that distinction, having coached James with the Cavs from ’05-10. During that tenure, Brown’s Cavs managed to win 50 games in four of those campaigns. In ’07, Cleveland won the Eastern seaadvancing to the Finals, where they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs.

not enough love for brown
Despite all that success, Brown never received the accolades and acknowledgment that most coaches would. You will be overlooked while coaching once-in-a-generation talent LeBron James. Not so in Sacramento. No matter how far they go after the season, Brown has had the best regular season coaching job this year.
Brown’s Kings Have Already Done It received the No. 3 seed in wEST and still have a chance to post a 50-win season with four games left on the schedule. this is squad Built on youth and excellent coaching, minus the top-five players in the league. The Kings have only two players over the age of 29 on their roster. For the most part, it’s a squad filled with players 26 and under. Young teams don’t usually go deep into the NBA playoffs, and they certainly don’t win titles, but getting to this point is a big step forward for Sacramento.
The franchise has barely registered 30 wins in the last three seasons. They had a period from ’09-15 where they didn’t get 30 wins even once. The Kings have a long history of losing, and apart from a few years in the early 00’s, it has been a losing organization since moving to Northern California in ’85.
Therefore, what Brown has accomplished in a year with this young team should be applauded and celebrated. That fan base has suffered for a long time and deserves some rewards. New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau was awarded Coach of the Year honors in ’21 as the No. 4 seed, even though he probably shouldn’t have won it. Mike Brown earns this year’s award, and the voting shouldn’t be close.
