What a difference a week makes.

Less than a week actually.

On Tuesday, the New York Mets lost their third straight game: two against the Washington Nationals, and one against the Tampa Bay Rays.

However, on Wednesday he turned up the heat, and has not looked back since.

The Mets have now won five straight and seven of their last ten.

Two of those five came against the dominant Rays, and the other three came against the Cleveland Guardians.

Walk-off wins, pitching masterpieces, clutch hitting: you name it, and the Mets displayed it last week.

As Stringer Bell from “The Wire” (played by Idris Elba) said, the Mets are “back up”.

The Mets created that hilarious meme after Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander threw a combined 14 innings of one-run ball on Sunday against the hapless Guards.

Both Mets aces seem to be back at full strength after some health issues, and that means nothing but good news for Mets fans.

Verlander was booed in his previous outing, against the Rays, when he gave up six runs.

Now, he completely dominated Cleveland for eight innings.

He said after that loss that he understood the ridicule, but that the team was trying to play better.

He certainly did from Wednesday.

As a result, New York is now in second place in the NL East standings.

He was at the fourth position at one point last week.

After Tuesday’s loss, their 20-23 record is now looking better than 25-23.

For all their troubles, the Mets are now just five games behind the Atlanta Braves for the division lead.

Here come the Mets.
