This week, Kelly Clarkson dropped “Me” and “Mine,” two fire singles from her upcoming album chemistry,
Kelly revealed that the album is about her divorce, so it’s safe to assume that Kelly is referring to her ex, Brandon Blackstock, whom she divorced in 2020.
In two new tracks, we got a glimpse of some of the issues in their relationship.
Let’s start with “I”. In the track, Kelly sings, “Your insecurities were the death of you and me.”
She also pointed to the fact that her ex kept secrets:
At the song’s climax, Kelly sings about not needing someone who “scolds” her, nor someone who “pains” her.
In “Mine”, Kelly gives another glimpse into their relationship, where she states that she has to question her partner’s motives.
She also sang about being with someone who stole her shine:
And as a result of this relationship, she herself guesses:
There was a powerful moment in the song when Kelly sings, “Who do you think you are?”
