if you haven’t seen jury dutyYou are missing out on one of the funniest TV shows of the last several years.
The series, which airs on Amazon Freevee (Amazon’s free streaming channel), is a mix of Office And jo shomo show (If you’re old enough to remember this – if not, know that it was an elaborate prank show within a fake reality show).
And the premise is that they’re shooting a “documentary” that’s like serving on jury duty, except one of the jurors doesn’t know it and thinks he’s serving on an actual jury. .
That “juror” is Ronald Gladden (who unsurprisingly is also the star of the show).
And recently, she spoke to People about the experience of filming the show and thinking that everything going on around her was real.
According to him, he has been able to process that the whole thing was fake, but it took some time, saying, “But I’m not kidding, months and months after that, I was still getting bogged down by things.” like, Oh wow, was that staged, was that fake, was that an actor?,
Ronald then said, “It took me months to realize and accept this.”
Even though this was by no means a malicious prank that was being played on Ronald, series showrunner, Cody Heller told PEOPLE that he took his mental health very seriously, adding, “His mental health is clearly always came before, and we never wanted to do anything to hurt her or do anything to make her feel bad in any way.”
Adding, “But the whole point of the show was to celebrate this guy being a hero, which means who knew we could literally wind up with the kindest man in the world?”
