When the Memphis Grizzlies signed veteran forward Derrick Rose to a new deal, they were getting an accomplished player who has spent 14 years in the league and been named a three-time All-Star.
He has a high basketball IQ and a lot of talent.
But they were also getting someone who could possibly guide their young, troubled star, Ja Morant.
What kind of results can it bring?
NBA insider Dan Devine spoke on the No Cap podcast about Rose’s new role with the Grizzlies.
He added that Rose is seen as “somebody who can really talk to Jaa” and help her get back on track and put her personal problems behind her.
“Maybe there’s some synergy there,” Devine said.

There’s no doubt that Morant definitely needs help.
Although he is extremely talented, Morant has repeatedly put his career in jeopardy because of his off-court decisions.
His latest poor choice has cost him a 25-game suspension, which he will have to serve at the start of next season.
If he makes one more mistake, he could lose the rest of his career.
Rose has had his own off-court issues and controversies.
Despite this, he has been able to navigate the complex and challenging landscape of the league and the trappings of fame.
He can definitely give Morant at least some advice.
Also, he can help the rest of the team because of his vast experience in the league.
Additionally, newcomer Marcus Smart could do the same.
Experience and wisdom are going to pay off for the Grizzlies.
This might help Morant but it might also help everyone else.
