Fans react to today’s Vikings, David Montgomery reports

The Minnesota Vikings were in talks to make a strange signing in the offseason.

Despite having Dalvin Cook, the Vikings were reportedly interested in adding David Montgomery back to their roster.

However, there have been some reports surfacing that the Vikings may be interested in trading Cook.

So if that’s the case, his interest in Montgomery would make sense.

According to Dov Kleiman, the Vikings attempted to sign former Bears running back.

Instead Montgomery ended up signing with the Detroit Lions.

The Vikings had found success the past few seasons with Cook and Alexander Mattison.

So when Mattison was also a free agent you could assume they were trying to trade him for Montgomery.

Cooks is under contract with the Vikings until the 2026 season, but it would be surprising to see him in Minneapolis that long.

The running back market has been down this offseason, as many teams are devaluing the position.

You can get very good players cheaply on the open market.

At the same time, teams are also hesitant to use a high draft pick at the position.

But, the Vikings can make an exception this year.

The running back was once the flagship of all NFL offenses.

But now the league is pass-first, and running backs are seen as a dime a dozen.

Cooks will be 28 next season and already has 1,282 carries.

But he has had four straight 1,100+ yard seasons and made four straight Pro Bowls.

Last season was the first time Cook played in all 17 games.

But it appears the Vikings are trying to move one of their most talented players before they hit a wall.
