As you may know, last week, members of the Screen Actors Guild – the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists – joined the Writers Guild of America strike over labor disputes with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
Although there are many reasons for the strike, the biggest issue is how these creatives are compensated by the streaming platform.
so when netflix used ellen grey’s anatomy Meredith, the character in a TikTok meme earlier this week, knew she had to say something.
The original post featured a photo of Meredith looking slightly annoyed and the caption, “When someone is me.” [bomb] In the chest cavity” – referencing an episode from Season 2.
Ellen decided to flip the script on the meme, posting the same image to her Instagram Story and adding the caption, “Me too when Netflix doesn’t pay actors their dues.”
Ellen added “Holla let’s talk” at the end of her message—seemingly to encourage continued dialogue.
He also left his response as a comment on the original video, which has now received over 4000 likes – and encouraged many more comments in support of the strike.
Netflix has yet to respond to Ellen’s comments — and as of now, TikTok is still live on her account.
