David Muir doesn’t often share glimpses into his personal life, aside from occasional shots of his beloved dog Axel, and is notoriously private when it comes to anything outside of his job at ABC.
however, In honor of a very special family member, He gave rare insight into what his upbringing was like, growing up in Syracuse, New York. In tribute to his late uncle, Doug Muir, The news anchor shared several family pictures which left fans in awe.
David took to Instagram to share wonderful photos taken by his Uncle Doug over the weekend, including one particularly heartwarming photo of him having a cup of coffee with his dad at the age of three painted drinking Ronald Muir.

The subsequent black-and-white photographs make for a delightful display of mid-century suburbia, some of which featured a classic station wagon in the background.
“Coffee with my dad, 1976,” David began his caption, saying: “These are photos taken by my late uncle Doug Muir.”

He continued: “I’m so proud that his work – from New York to California to Texas and all over the world – is coming home,” Disclosing that many of his photographs will be on display at the Everson Museum in Syracuse from May 20 to September 3 through an exhibit titled “Doug Muir: Coming Home”.
He finally shared a charming photo of the photographer, his uncle, whom he described as: “A whip-smart, talented, gentle soul.”

Fans were left in awe at the pictures, with David’s ABC colleague Deborah Roberts commenting: “How wonderful! Planning my Upstate trip!” As others said: “These are incredible. What a talent,” and: “What a wonderful capture of a moment in time. You look so much like your dad,” as well as: “Such amazing photos that show the beauty of the family.” represents,” as well as another fan wrote: “Cute! What a great story!”
David was born in Syracuse, where he still owns an incredible lakefront estate, and grew up in the Onondaga Hills. He was born to his father, Ronald Muir and mother, Pat Mills, who quickly divorced, but continued to co-parent amicably. His mother later moved to Skaneateles, also in Onondaga County, and despite their separation, David’s parents raised him together.
David previously opened up about his parents in an interview with Syracuse.com, where he said that his mother and father used to take him to the television studio where he was interning. “One of the images I will never forget is my mother and my father taking me there on summer holidays or school breaks,” he said. me at that TV station. David also has an older sister, Rebecca Muir, who runs a farm in Borodino, New York, as well as two younger half-siblings from his father’s second marriage.
