The Indianapolis Colts took a huge gamble in the 2023 NFL Draft.

They took Anthony Richardson, perhaps the most interesting and polarizing quarterback prospect we’ve seen in years.

And no matter how raw he is, former NFL player Dan Orlovsky still has confidence in him and his ability to make an impact early in the season.

Orlovsky ranked the AFC teams by tiers ahead of the upcoming campaign, and believes the Colts could be in the same tier as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos.

Truth be told, the Colts already had a solid defense and few players abused playmakers in the passing game.

Now they have a new head coach ready to revamp that offense, and there is a possibility that Richardson will become the player of a generation.

Of course, this cannot happen overnight.

Richardson doesn’t have as much experience after making just a few appearances for the Florida Gators last season, and his poor accuracy was a major concern prior to his transition to the pros.

He’s one of the most athletic QBs we’ve ever seen, excelling in every single drill at the NFL Combine and his Pro Day, and he has the physical tools to be a dual-threat for years to come.

It is always worthwhile to go with the highest profit potential.

But the Colts and their fans also need to realize that there will be some bumps along the way, as he is still quite raw and will be a work in progress.
