Coolio confirms he died of fentanyl overdose


About six and a half months after his untimely passing, it is revealed that fentanyl played a significant role in Coolio’s death.

Coolio reportedly had various drugs in his system when he died.

According to TMZ, Jarez Posey—Coolio’s longtime manager—said the family only recently received the news from the coroner.

Posey says severe asthma and years of cigarette use further affected Coolio’s health.

However, following the news, Posey noted that the rapper’s children—Brandy, Jackie, Melon, Christopher, Artis III, Darius and Artisha—are committed to honoring his legacy. In fact, Coolio’s family reportedly has plans to pay tribute to him through future projects.

After the death of the rapper, many stars honored him

As The Shade Room previously reported, Coolio was found dead in September 2022 while visiting a friend in Los Angeles. The 59-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, although an official cause of death had not been determined at the time.

In the light of this news, many stars kept coming and going.

Ice Cube tweeted a social media post of the quote and added, “This is sad news. I witnessed firsthand the grind of this man at the top of the industry. Rest in peace.”

Vanilla Ice also responded candidly to the news, as he tweeted, “I’m freaking out. I just heard that my good friend Coolio has passed away.”

Snoop Dogg shared his condolences for Coolio via Instagram.

Questlove also spoke to IG to speak on the unfortunate news. Beneath a photo of the rapper, Questlove wrote, “Peaceful journey brother.”
