Beckett Rex was one of the finalists American Idol But the audience will not get to see his talent as the singer has been eliminated from the competition.

Rex, whose famous father is English actor Malcolm McDowell, announced on social media that he has left the ABC reality competition despite being in the top 26.

“Y’all thinking, yeah I was on American Idol And I made it to the top 26. I’m not going to say why I chose not to remain in the competition, but I will say that it was my choice,” read the statement Rex shared on his Instagram Stories.

Rex continued, “I’m forever grateful American Idol The family and I will always look back on this experience with great gratitude and affection.

Beckett did not appear on this season of American Idol possibly due to the producers editing him out of the episode after he decided to leave the show. Host Ryan Seacrest announced the Top 26 finalists and introduced the return of Peggy Anne to the competition.

“Recently, one of the top 26 decided to drop out of the competition, so we turned to our first choice of judges and gave her life-changing news,” Seacrest said on Monday night’s show.

Beckett’s surprise exit after Sarah Beth Labbe also quit the competition to move back home with her family. Kaya Stewart then left the show after becoming ill and was unable to perform with her duet partner.
