The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a second Super Bowl title in the Andy Reid era, with the team flying under the radar for most of the season after trading superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.
One thing Patrick Mahomes and company proved to the football world last season is that this team can adjust to losers like Hill, and regardless of who is on the team in Kansas City, things keep going.
This NFL offseason, the Chiefs are once again in a similar situation, where a star player is looking to get paid with a lucrative long-term contract extension.
Defensive tackle Chris Jones is unhappy with how contract negotiations with the Chiefs are going so far and, as a result, has decided not to attend training camp.
Reid commented on Jones’ absence and the current state of contract negotiations with the four-time All-Pro via The Athletic’s Nate Taylor.
Andy Reid on Chris Jones: “If you’re not here, we’ll just keep going.”
Reid is confident that the Chiefs and Jones will continue to negotiate and negotiate a contract extension.

With Jones being a huge part of the team’s defense, Kansas City will likely look to do something with Jones soon, as it is not easy to replace a player of his caliber at defensive tackle.
That said, it will be interesting to see where contract talks go from here and whether this becomes the biggest story during training camp.
As for the rest of the squad, the Chiefs will hope they have plenty to show for repeats this season, but the AFC has only gotten better this summer, which means winning another title this year will be no easy task.
