The Kansas City Chiefs will enter the 2023 season as the defending Super Bowl champions.

Given the number of pieces they lost in the offseason, the Chiefs will have some work to do as they attempt to defend their title.

Many players like Frank Clarke, Orlando Brown Jr., Juan Thornhill and Andrew Wylie are now gone.

While they have filled the hole left by those players, another star of their championship team is in question.

Andy Reid was recently asked about the status of Chris Jones for the upcoming year.

“I don’t know, I’ll just see how it goes,” Reid said via Rob Collins of Fox 4 in Kansas City.

Reid didn’t exactly inspire confidence among Chiefs fans regarding Jones’ standing with the team.

However, he added, “Communication is going on, that’s the important part.”

Jones is still under contract for the 2023 season, but his contract is due to expire after this season.

While many believe Jones will be extended, Reed’s comments indicate the two sides may still be far apart.

Jones was a key part of this defense last season, totaling 44 tackles and 15.5 sacks.

He was in consideration to win the Defensive Player of the Year award but ultimately came third in the voting.

If the Chiefs are not able to come up with an extension for Jones, it could lead to him sitting out, or at the very least, disgruntled with the team.

The start of training camp is just around the corner.

Will the chief be able to do anything in the coming days?
