Andrew Scott to play all lead roles in ‘Vanya,’ new adaptation of ‘Uncle Vanya’ – Deadline

Playwright Simon Stephens wins major award for stage adaptation of Mark Haddon’s best-selling book curious phenomenon of the dog in the nightwhich played in London and New York, was tasked with shaping Vanya By producers Benjamin Lowery and Emily Vaughan-Barratt of production house Wessex Grove.

Scott will play four lead characters: Vanya; his late sister’s husband, Serebryakov, and his new wife, Yelena; and Sonya, Serebryakov’s daughter from his first marriage. There are five other roles – three supporting and two minor featured parts.

Scott tells Deadline she is “absolutely thrilled” to return to the theater for the first time since Noel Coward current laughter Four years ago at the Old Vic. “It’s about time,” he told us.

Scott will rehearse with director Sam Yates during the summer, then run the show out of town at the Richmond Theater between August 28 and September 2.
