Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies is one of the NBA’s best and brightest young stars, and he is quite possibly the most athletically gifted point guard the game has ever seen.
But his immediate future in the league is in grave jeopardy, and it is a direct result of his own actions.
A few months ago, he gleefully displayed a gun during an Instagram Live and was suspended by both the Grizzlies and the league as a result, and most recently, he was again publicly displaying a gun in another video.
Commissioner Adam Silver launched an investigation into this latest incident, according to Tim McMahon, and suggested he wait for the NBA Finals, which began on Thursday, to end before making an official decision.
Saying that the NBA has “disclosed a fair amount of additional information,” he also said that Morant could face some harsher discipline.
Adam Silver on Ja Morant: “We disclosed a significant amount of additional information. We probably could have brought this to a head now, but we have decided that it would be unfair for these players and these teams to announce a decision in the middle of this series.

Guard was Rookie of the Year three seasons ago, and he has taken the Grizzlies from a laughing stock to a very good team.
This season, they finished second in the Western Conference with 51 wins, although they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs.
Many feel Memphis has the potential to become a contender very soon, but Morant’s actions have cast a dark cloud over that potential.
